Moroccan cakes : Makrout For Dates

A classic of oriental pastry.

Ingredients (10 people)


1 pinch of salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Oil for frying
2 tablespoons orange blossom water
100g of honey
1 bowl of melted butter
4 tbsp powdered sugar
400g of date paste
3 bowls of semolina

Preparation


Step 1 :
Put in a large salad bowl: semolina, salt, sugar and butter well worked.

2nd step :
Add warm water and rework to have a smooth and homogeneous paste.
Let stand at least an hour.

Step 3:
In another bowl, mix the date paste, cinnamon and orange blossom water.

Step 4:
Make small rolls, split them in the middle and introduce small sticks of date paste into the slot. Weld the roll opening and smooth it.

Step 5:
Cut into a diamond and fry in boiling oil. Brown on both sides and dip in warm honey. Drain and store tightly in a box once the makruts have cooled down.
