The manager was so apologetic for all the waste. He just hung and shook his head, seemingly embarrassed about what he does with that good food everyday. He said "We get in trouble if it is even one day out of date. So many good foods going to waste. I hate that!" I believe he was a bit lighter that day, knowing that he did a good deed with that food.
