The revenge of the camel

in #food5 years ago

You thought that there is no way for a dead animal to take its toll? Well, you are wrong! Have you ever heard of pastourma or pastirma? (It really makes no difference because whatever its name, you will stink anyway). It is usually made from camel and lamb.. Up to here we would be just fine. More or less we all eat or have eaten meat and there is nothing disgusting about it...

However us, humans, decided that just salted, dried meat was not enough and wanted to spice things up and add a little something, in order to make it more delicious. This little something that does the damage is called "çemen"! Besides the fact that this paste improves the flavour, it also prevents further drying of the meat and also has antimicrobial effects. OK.

I feel like the camel whispered to someone's ear "çemen, put some çemen on... you will love it... And the naive human listened to the dead animal and did as it said.. He then tasted it and got utterly excited and lucky that he listened to the corpse. The news were spread like the plague and pastourma became very popular... Everyone loved it...

Some hours later though, people started smelling a really annoying scent coming out of their bodies. They couldn't figure out what was going on and what happened to them. They believed that they started rotting. Every inch of their bodies stank -even inside their ears. They couldn't stand each other, they even couldn't stand themselves.

At some point they realised that pastourma did that to them... However they were all mesmerised by its taste and couldn't resist eating it... The human kind was doomed to stink and the dead avengers then did an evil laugh, as everything went as planned...
