New Study Suggests That Eating Cheese Might Be Good For You

in #food7 years ago

A new study was recently published in the European Journal of Nutrition that suggests a little serving of cheese every day might do some good to help to provide some beneficial effects to the heart.

Researchers note that cheese provides beneficial ingredients such as probiotics, zinc, protein, and calcium. And the researchers behind the study suggest that eating around 40 grams of cheese every day might play a role in helping to reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease.

In order to reach these findings, the researchers from the Netherlands and China investigated and analyzed at least 15 different observational studies which previously looked into the effects of cheese consumption and any possible association to cardiovascular risk.

Their analysis involved over 200,000 participants and the health of those participants was monitored over a period of at least 10 years or more.

They say that they saw the most notable results, at least a 14 percent reduced risk of developing coronary heart disease, with participants who consumed an average of about 40 grams of cheese every day. And for those who ate roughly 40g per day day, they were also at least 10 percent less likely to have a stroke.

While they might have been surprised to see this relationship, a nonlinear inverse association between cardiovascular disease and cheese consumption, there are still study limitations and they note that the results don't prove a causal association.

Researchers still warn that cheese might be harmful to ones health because of the high amount of saturated fats. Some say that eating cheese might be just as bad for you as smoking.

When talking about cheese there is also a wide variety to consider, hundreds of different kinds on the shelves.

You've got cheese made from cows milk, goats milk, sheeps milk etc, you've got natural cheese and processed, grass-fed and not, etc. It's difficult to know which one might be the best one for the individual to go with, that is going to provide the most benefit (if any) to them.

This isn't the first study to suggest that eating cheese might do a little good either. Previously, researchers from the University of Copenhagen have found the same thing, that eating cheese might help to increase levels of good cholesterol in the body that can help to protect and fight against cardiovascular disease and more.

Researchers from Harvard and elsewhere have also come out in saying the same thing, that they too have found no increased risk for heart disease when it comes to eating dairy fat. Critics say that the positive news surrounding cheese consumption is the result of oversimplified results and they still urge people to be skeptical and mindful about how much cheese they consume.

I love cheese! Eat it regularly. This is good news :)

in moderation most things are good for you. Cheese too! Also consider what preservatives and other crap they put in our food. The best option is to grow and make your own if possible, Most folks do not get the necessary 90 minerals and vitamins to live healthy. Our great grandparents all ate organic. They put the ashes from the wood burning stove on their gardens. That is how they consumed healthy food. Today we eat out or eat processed food. Not good my friends. Thanks for the good info my friend.

Sangat bagus

I love cheese but I don't eat it daily. I guess that too much of everything is not good for our health, but I always thought of cheese as being good for your health if you eat it in balance of course.
Thanks for sharing

So maybe good, maybe bad... I'm still making that cheesy oven dish this weekend!
