New App Helps Small Pizzerias Compete With Big Chains

A new app, Slice, has been introduced that allows smaller pizzerias to compete with bigger chains in the market. The app connects local establishments with customers; giving them the option of mobile ordering and payment. The Slice app allows customers to order authentic pizza from local and smaller pizzerias who have found it difficult in the past to keep up with updating their menus online and getting into the world of online ordering etc.

This technology is allowing smaller pizza venues to grow their client base and increase their sales by helping to boost their average order, while enabling them to compete with the bigger pizza chains. People want the convenience of ordering on their phones and online and for the venues that were reluctant to get into the market, the app has made it very easy for them.

The pizza market in the United States is estimated to be around $40 billion and the smaller chains make up a decent portion of that; around $26 billion. But many of them aren't familiar with online ordering and have been slow to get into adapting their business to provide that sort of ordering option to their clients. Slice does the work for them and conveniently offers them a chance to get into providing that service for the market and all they have to do is sign-up.

It's estimated that about 54.3 percent of the US pizza venues in the U.S. are smaller and independently owned venues. And the top four companies in the pizza market make up about 39.7 percent of revenue. The current top chains are said to be Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza, Little Caesars, and Papa John's. And over 900,000 people are employed just in the U.S. pizza market alone.
