Melted Snowman Sugar Cookies

in #food6 years ago (edited)

These sugar cookies are fun to make and look like adorable melted snowmen in the end! Feel free to use as much creativity as you wish...

Ingredients

  • 1 package Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1 bag Marshmallows (either size will work, depending on the look you want)
  • 1 tube Black Decorating Gel
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 4 teaspoons Whole Milk
  • Cookie Icing in a variety of colors (optional)

Directions

  1. Prepare cookie mix according to package directions.
  2. Heat oven to 350 degrees or temperature indicated on cookie mix package.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  4. Take a small sized ball of dough (about 1.5 inches in diameter) and flatten to about .25 - .5 inches thick, depending on how thick you like your cookies. Since they are supposed to be melted snowmen, irregularities will only add to the realism of the final result.
  5. Bake cookies according to package directions.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  7. Meanwhile, prepare cookie icing by stirring powdered sugar and whole milk until smooth.
  8. Once cookies are completely cooled, ice the cookies (allow some of the icing to drip over the edge for that melting look).
  9. To create the heads for the snowmen:
    • Spray a microwave safe plate with cooking spray and put the marshmallows on it.
    • Cook on high: about 5-10 secs for mini size, 15-20 secs for regular size. Watch the marshmallows carefully.
    • Spray your hand with the cooking spray so marshmallows won't stick to your fingers and carefully move the marshmallows onto the frosted cookies. Work quickly so the marshmallow is still gooey when placed on the cookie.
  10. To create facial details on the marshmallows, you can use a toothpick to apply the piping gel for the eyes and mouth, and to apply orange icing for the carrot nose.
  11. Arms can be drawn with the piping gel as well.
  12. For scarves and buttons, colored cookie icing or a variety of small colored candies can be used.

I love desserts! I think it's not bad to have some sugar in your body sometimes is it?

I hope not, because I tend to eat my dessert first... :)

They look great.
I'll vote for them.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks @antonella! I can't wait to try them again with the bigger size marshmallows and add some colored icing decorations. :)
