Love & Libraries: A One Week Affair: Day 6
Do you love snacks? I do. I also love a brisk walk to the local library on a beautiful day, to select a wonderful book to read. But, you know what? After my walk to the Library, I want a snack! After all, I walked...so I earned it, right?
Now, most libraries I have frequented over the course of my life do not allow food. So, after your walk, you're just out of luck. Take a sip from the drinking fountain. If you were smart, you put an apple or something in your bag as you left the house and now maybe you can find a bench somewhere in the vicinity to sit and eat it.
But Pasadena, California is a town that caters to its public. It has the highest per capita of restaurants of anywhere in the U.S. It has also been rated the snobbiest city in the U.S. Ok, admittedly, yes, I can see that. But, you know what, it's nice to have a drink or a snack while you read a book outside at the Library's own Cafe. One of those things that isn't necessary, but a pleasant luxury nonetheless.
And one more reason to enjoy the Library!
Just wondering how many books do you read a day? Are you a 1 a day or do you find yourself enjoying more than that? I know some people enjoy reading 1 book a day and have been doing so for most of their lives.
Then you have the people who never read another book again once they get out of school.
I myself have always been a slower reader so a book for me can last quite a while. I might read a couple a years depending on how busy I get. That one book I picked up the other day I’ve yet to open and read the first page!
Hi @enjar! No, can't say that I'm a one a day-er. Probably more like one every week or two. Now that I'm on Steemit & online in general so much, I probably read fewer books, but actually "consume" more. I'm reading "Option B" right now and really enjoying it. The electricity book you mentioned sounded really interesting. I may look it up on my next library excursion. I'll let ya know if I beat you to it 😉
You just might get to it before I do! I read so many blogs these days and comments! Perhaps I should try and read a chapter tomorrow when my eyes are not as worn out as they are now. Just so I have it started :)
