Speaking of ikan kareng teuphep cuisine, this is one of Aceh cuisine. It is said teuphep probably because this dish is not too sauce, so its impression like wet but not dry. In the local language, we call it sour kareng. Kareng means anchovies. In Aceh, there are two types of teri that are sold in the market. Small ones, called teri medan and large ones, are called teri Aceh or teri gampong. Similar to other typical Aceh cuisine, this dish is often presented daily.

Ikan kareng teuphep are one of the most simple types of Aceh food from the way they are processed. So you can try to make it at home.


Materials to be prepared if you want to try them:

  • Kareng fish
  • Potato
  • Onion slices
  • Cayenne pepper

Ingredients for making fish kareng:

  • 4 onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Turmeric
  • Red chili pepper
  • Sunti acid

How to make :

  • Blend ingredients to make Ikan kareng teuphep fish until smooth.

  • Combine the spices that have been smooth into the fish in the wash of clean, input potatoes and inputs are also sliced ​​red onion wait until the spices soak.

  • Put the oil into a frying pan and heat it.

  • Enter the fish that has been mixed with the spices into the oil and mix well.

  • Add water to the dish, and wait until the potatoes become tender.

  • Put pieces of cayenne pepper into the dish.

  • Add salt into the dish for more tasty dishes.

  • Wait until the cooking boil and dry, Ikan kareng teuphep ready to serve.


Anchovy one of the marine fish whose life is clustered in a vast ocean. Anchovy is also in terms of cost is not too expensive, so easily you can get it, such as traditional markets and in supermarkets. Anchovy has a small shape, but do not be underestimated that the content contained in anchovy is a high protein content as well as other fish. This fish is very well consumed in your daily diet as one to meet your daily nutrition.

However, this Ikan kareng teuphep rarely exist in big cities or regions other than in Aceh. Therefore, at least we can to make it ourselves at home and would be suitable when served for a husband who is happy with this savory and sour cuisine.
