Dining in the Maple Tree House | Namu Restaurant Experience

Namoo House is located at the Ground Floor of Uptown Parade in Bonifacio Global City, Makati. It is a Seoul-based restaurant that is known for their Korean Barbecue. One of our friends suggested we hold our annual get-together here as she highly recommends their Bulgogi, Beef Ribs, and Bibimbap.

It is also known as the Maple Tree House and their interior design immediately caught my eye when I first entered it last December. The entrance is separated from the rest of the restaurant by a screen of maple tree branches entwined with fairy lights, while the wall to the left is lined with green soju bottles.

As we chose our tables, I noticed the illustration on the wall which depicted a part of their menu. Looking at it, I can sense their pride for the food they serve. They boast of an authentic traditional Korean menu using only premium beef and pork cuts that were made perfectly tender.

The wall going to the washroom has a frame which shows the four other branches they have in Seoul, South Korea; Samcheong, Itaewon, Myeongdong, and Gangnam Subway station. BGC is also on the frame as the location of their first international franchise, which opened in 2016.

It was my first time to experience Korean cuisine and found even the most mundane things intriguing. I felt like a kid looking so amazed at the stove and exhaust, which both were copper. The plates, cup, and even the tables were stone.

FOOD

Aside from good food, the place also takes pride in their price-point, which they say are value-driven. They offer family sets that are available all day. We got a set with Jumbo Beef Ribs Soup, Korean Japchae, Dak Galbi, Grilled Beef Bulgogi, Pork Belly, Pajeon, and side dishes that they constantly refilled during our meal. As is customary in Korean restaurants, we were served pickled appetizers before our mains. I loved their salad dressing, and the vegetables were all fresh and crispy.

At first, I was not very keen about having dinner at a Korean restaurant because, like many kids, Lucy and Sam are quite picky. They're not used to foreign cuisine because Red and I aren't also adventurous with our food. I'm glad that we found something in the menu that turned out to be something that the kids liked. Sam had the Chicken-based Dak Bulgogi, while Lucy preferred the pork-based Daeji Bulgogi.

The best thing about the place was the fact that it was not crowded even though that was December and most places were booked for the yearly gatherings. Our group had a great time catching up. We stayed there for about 3 hours just chatting and enjoying good food and great company.
