Ginger is also known as Zingiber officinale, is a flowering plant closely related to turmeric and cardamom. Ginger is derived from rhizomes, which are stems that grow horizontally, forming roots downward, and that grows on top of leaves and new stems. The buds then form along each spacing of the stems.

how best can ginger be used in homes in terms of cooking compered to taking it in it's raw state?

Add to your salad in form of slices. That will be more beneficial.

I drink fresh ginger tea nearly every day. Very good for soothing you before sleeping as well.

Thank you. Very useful. I've recently started taking Turmeric, but I'm not sure it agrees with me. From what you say Ginger appears to provide some similar advantages. I did read somewhere that healing spices can depend on your genes i.e. If your ancestors had Turmeric in their diet then it is likely to be more beneficial to you. I know my grandparents, (and possibly their predecessors) were great Ginger lovers!!.
