The Moroccan sweet: chebakia with almonds for Ramadan

Hello my dearest friends of steemit!
Today I prepared the famous Moroccan sweet named chebakia, which the most of the Moroccan now they are preparing this yummy cakes for Ramadan, sooner we will start fasting for this month and preparing the best Moroccan dishes, and you will find all the Moroccan tables full of different food, the sweets and the salted one also, and all types of drinks , smoothie, coffee, Moroccan tea,
For me it’s impossible to spend this month without seing chebakia in my table and the Moroccan soup too, really this month is for prayer , but when you are fasting whole the day, you like to eat special food, that can nourish you body with all the vitamins which you missed them during the day.
So I will share with you these Moroccan chebakia recipe:
To make this yummy chebakia you need:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 kg of flour
  • 1 egg
  • yellow of egg
  • 250 g of crushed sesame
  • 200g of almonds , boiled, fried, crushed.
  • 1 tablespoon of fennel
  • 1 tablespoon of aniseed
  • little safran
  • little Arabic gums
  • 1/2 cup of vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of olives oil
  • 1 cup of Orange blossom water
  • 1 cup of melted butter
  • 8 g of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 1 cup of oil
  • 1/2 cup of water

garnish:

  • sesame or crushed almonds
  • honey
  • orange blossom water

  • mix the sesame with the almonds after add the other ingredients little by little.

  • mix well until you get this soft dough, form balls.

  • spread the dough with roller pin , and make like long ribbons , and form them as you see in the picture below.

  • fry the chebakia in a warm oil for not burn and for cook inside.
  • put in casserole 2 kg of honey + orange blossom water , and put it in slow heat until become hot then turn off the heat., when we take out the chebakia from the oil we deep them directly in honey flavoring with orange blossom water, and we garnish them with crushed almonds or sesame.

Voila the chebakia are ready !!! It come super delicious!!

I love it when I learn some culture from another country, Ramadan is known for being the month in which Muslims fast all day, I think it takes a special preparation, like us with Lent.
