Tom Collins – One of my favourite cocktails
Dear @captainbob, this is for you – a recipe to make one of my favourite all season drinks, a Tom Collins.
This great all seasons gin-based delight was developed in 1876 in New York. It is also known as a sparkling lemonade, which is a great name for a drink as well.
The original recipe goes like this:
- 45 ml Dry Gin
- ½ lemon juice
- 1 tea spoon sugar
- Top with carbonated water
You make it in a tall glass. First fill the glass completely with ice. Pour in the gin. Add lemon juice. Sprinkle the sugar over the ice. Add the carbonated water and stir vigorously. Garnish with an orange or lemon wheel and add a maraschino cherry and two long straws.
I personally like to add some sprite or seven up as I like the drink to be a bit sweeter but you can do as you prefer. A couple more cherries would also be great.
Enjoy and hope you come back for more.
Cheers and don't forget to up vote and follow :)
