Lemang is an authentic Indonesian food, in Sumatra Lemang is a food that is really favored because it tastes good. Lemang is usually made during the fasting month and is used as a fast-breaking menu but making lemang in the fasting month is not a necessity because making lemang is not too difficult but takes a long time.

Lemang is food made using glutinous rice cooked using bamboo wrapped in banana leaves.

How to make lemang

*** 1. Glutinous rice is washed thoroughly then mix glutinous rice with coconut milk and salt then stir until evenly mixed. ***

*** 2. Put the banana leaves into the bamboo by rolling, as a coating or container of glutinous rice in bamboo.***

*** 3. After the bamboo leaves are inserted and try to increase the height of the banana leaves bamboo then enter the glutinous rice that we have mixed with salt and coconut milk. ***

*** 4. Next, burn the bamboo which already contains glutinous rice (lemang) with a slightly tilted position leading to the fire.***

*** 5. Try to ripen the rice flat, often rotating the bamboo. burning outside means that the lemang is ripe, to make sure the lemang is ripe or not we can also see by opening the banana leaves on the end of the bamboo. ***

*** 5. If it is ripe remove the glue in the bamboo by splitting the bamboo and do not pull the banana leaves. ***
