Blueberries are native to North America and were introduced in Europe around 1930, there are many species of the plant like the vaccinium mirtillus, this fruits may be picked in wild or semi-wild bushes and commercial farms, they come in different sizes and forms and the harvesting season is around the Spring time.
What makes Blueberries great food:
Blueberries are a low-calorie food, but rich in nutrients such as fiber, vitamin C, K, and manganese. This fruit as an incredible antioxidant power, containing more antioxidants than other fruits, this helps against unstable molecules that can damage cellular structures.
Studies show that a daily 50 gram of blueberries lowered LCL oxidation by 27% in obese persons, this proves blueberries can help in the fight against bad cholesterol!
The antioxidants in blueberries have also benefits for our brain, improving brain function and the delay of age-related decline.
