Greek Orange Pie

in #food9 years ago

Traditional Greek pie made of puff pastry filo with oranges.

For syrup

1 tsp cinnamon
400 g of sugar
350 ml of water
1 orange

Dough

5 eggs
100 g of sugar
3 oranges
500 g of dough - filo, unfrozen
1 tbsp. baking powder
200 g of natural thick yoghurt (or sour cream)
180 ml of olive oil

Prepare the syrup, squeeze the juice from the orange. In a saucepan
pour orange juice, water, add sugar, cinnamon and halves of orange.
Put the pan on the fire and cook for 8-10 minutes, then turn off the
heat and allow the syrup to cool down while you cook the cake.

Form 20x30 cm lightly oiled, crumble the filo sheets straight into the mold.
Half an orange cut into thin slices to decorate, with the remaining
oranges to grate the zest and squeeze the juice. Mix the yogurt with
sugar, add orange zest, olive oil and orange juice. Add eggs and
baking powder, whisk in a few minutes.

Pour the dough into a mold and mix gently with a spoon to evenly
distribute the mass. Top the orange slices. Pie in the oven, bake at
180 C, 45-50 minutes.

Pour hot pie immediately with chilled syrup, leave for 1 hour, so that
the syrup is absorbed. Bon Appetit!
