Today's Interesting Drink - Ikezo Sparkling Jelly Sake (Berry Flavour)
I like Sake, I like bubbly drinks, and I like jelly, so I just knew I was onto a winner when I saw this on the menu this evening.

FUN IN A CAN
So according to their advertising this is "Fun in a can, shake it up". This is exactly what our waitress had to do to get the jelly and liquid mixture to come out. Although, you definitely drink it the same as a liquid it has large globules of jelly through it, which not only taste great but are supposedly good for your skin.
GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN
We ordered the mixed berry which contains blueberries, cranberries and strawberries. It also contains something called α-EG (alpha-ethyl glucoside) which is a natural moisturizing element that is derived during the fermentation of the sake. The sparkling bubbles also make it taste light and fresh.
LIGHT & BUBBLY
As far as Sake-based drinks go, it is very light at only 5% alcohol volume and it is recommended to treat it as a dessert. We however had ours and it was a nice compliment when paired with fresh sashimi. It had a pleasant, light fruity taste without feeling at all syrupy or sickly-sweet. I highly recommend giving this a try if you see it in a Japanese restaurant. I, however have never seen it before, but I will be looking out so that I may try the other flavours. Outstanding!
