"Phil's Fish Market" Moss Landing, California - Rated #1 Beach Restaurant by BBC Travel !
While travelling in California, we received a tip about the greatest seafood restaurant around. Some locals told us that if we drove about 45 minutes to Moss Landing and were prepared to wait in line, then we wouldn't be disappointed. The restaurant is located in the seaside town of Moss Landing between Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay. You can read more about my California Road trip HERE, but for now let's talk about seafood!
PHIL'S FISH MARKET
Phil's has been running as a family-owned business for more than 30 years. During this time it has been ranked as the Number #1 Beach Restaurant by BBC Travel, and also featured on the Food Network. This is great, but when it still retains the love of the locals who it serves, then you know its going to be good.
The line to get in on this Sunday afternoon stretched out the door and at least another 50 people into the carpark. We waited patiently and after a little over an hour we were seated in a lovely courtyard by the sea.
The restaurant sells fresh seafood as well as a comprehensive selection of cooked specialties. Here you will see some of the fresh seafood available.
We selected some of the fresh oysters, as well as calamari strips and blackened salmon. All of the dishes were exceptional.
I grew up in Australia, where we live on fresh seafood, and this was as good as anything I have ever eaten. Add to that the beautiful location, reasonable prices and friendly staff and you have a combination that can't be beat.
