Healthy Eating! | Chocolate Walnut Protein Bites
The family has arrived! The Bird household is bustling!
Definitely a hungry flock of birds! So today, we’re on round 2 of a special Protein bites. This treat is packed with protein but low in sugar. And the best part….chocolate!
Chocolate Walnut Protein Bites
These Protein Bites are made with 4 major protein and Omega 3 fat sources:
- Hemp Seeds -25% of the calories in hemp seeds are protein! 2-3 tablespoons contain 11 grams of protein
- Flax Seed- 1 tablespoon Flax Seed contain 1.3 grams of protein. Also great for nursing moms!
- Cashews- 1 ounce of cashews contain 5.1 grams of protein. One of the lowest fiber nuts, packed with vitamins and minerals
- Walnuts- super high in Omega 3 fats or ALA’s. In fact, 2.5 grams per 1 ounce serving! Studies have shown adding 1 gram of Omega 3’s to your daily diet reduces your risk of dying from heart disease by 10%
Certainly great ingredients for any protein snack
You’ll need
- Cashews (1 ½ cup)
- Hemp Seeds (1 cup)
- Flax Seeds (1/4 cup)
- Walnuts (1/4 cup)
- Agave or Maple Syrup (1/4 cup)
- Vanilla (1 teaspoon)
- Sea Salt (dash)
- Dairy Free Sugar Free Chocolate Chips (1 cup)
Use your favorite blender to blend the Cashews, Hemp Seed and Flax seeds until fine in texture. Now pour this into a bowl and add the Agave, Vanilla and Sea Salt.
Oops, don’t forget to chop those Walnuts!
Add the walnuts and 1/3 of the chocolate chips to your mixture and press this into a parchment lined baking dish.
Now melt the balance of the chocolate chips and spread the chocolate over your base layer. It is so luscious and tempting to dive in now…
But Hold on! Don’t do it!
Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours. Just remember…
