Hangree…….it’s a thing!

Have you ever felt an instant hunger come upon you, but you don’t have immediate access to food? Before you know it, it is too late, you feel your blood sugar levels depleting and you are slipping into a dark hole of anger. This symptom is called hangriness.

A mixture of hunger and anger.

Hangree Catering is a relatively new business in the Blue Mountains. I've been on the look out for caterers for a while now (wedding research) and have only just noticed them pop up in the last year.

As vast as the Blue Mountains area is, the only thing we have in abundance up here is nature. As for shops or businesses, there's a few but no where near as much if you lived down the mountain.

And because it's mainly just us up here, we do like to support our local suppliers and businesses. In this case it works brilliantly as I'd prefer our food to be as fresh as possible and locally produced.

Food, glorious food!

Out of the top 3 caterers in the mountains (based on recommendations from the Blue Mountain social group on FB). Hangree, by far, had the most information, pictures and most importantly the best menu. So naturally they fast became my number 1 choice.

The first time I looked at it, I pretty much clicked everything and started working out how much it was in SBD 😆.

Seriously guys. You wanna eat? Can we turn this into a foodfest? The selection is not only extensive but delicious sounding.

The Menus

Without further ado (if you haven't already gone ahead to their website) here is the menu. Brace yourself, when I said it was extensive I wasn't kidding.

I got in touch with them last week about vegan options and the lovely Vanessa got back to me a few days later with the menu.

Mains

• Chilli con vegetable tacos w avocado and salsa
• Roast sweet potato ravioli w cheese free basil pesto
• Mushroom meatballs w fettuccine
• Wild mushroom ragout w pappardelle
• Vegetable lasagne
• Cauliflower risotto w peas, mushrooms and pine nuts
• Vegetable and lentil tagine
• Sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry

Salads

• Roasted beetroot, sweet potato, orange, radish, dutch carrot, almonds, spinach and honey mustard vinaigrette
• Maple sweet potato, cranberry, couscous, pepitas, green bean and caramelised onion
• Roasted vegetable quinoa
• Tabbouleh

Sides

• Seasonal roasted vegetables
• Steamed greens
• Crispy chat potatoes

Yummo! I might have to jump on the vegan wagon for the party. "Roast sweet potato ravioli w cheese free basil pesto." ~ Yes please!

What's the verdict?

Thoughts? Every time I look at the options I just get so hungry I can't think straight. I think it's safe to say I'll eat anything off their menus.

There's definitely a lot of goodies there. As to wether everyone wants to do this buffet style is another question.
