Kecamatan yang pernah dihempas oleh tsunami pada 2004 silam ini sekarang telah menjelma bak primadona. Nama Leupung kian tersohor hingga ke mana-mana. Leupung termasuk dalam kabupaten Aceh Besar. Namun untuk menuju ibukota kabupaten, masyarakat Leupung harus melewati Banda Aceh terlebih dahulu. Jarak waktu tempuh sekitar satu jam setengah.
Jalan-jalan ke Leupung serasa di luar negeri, betapa tidak. Jalan Leupung itu indahnya luar biasa. Setelah tsunami banyak bantuan dari luar berdatangan, termasuk ke Leupung. Jika melewati jalan ini anda juga akan disuguhkan panorama alam berupa pantai sepanjang jalan yang cukup indah.
Dan jika sampai di sana jangan lupa mecicipin mie khas Leupeung yang luar biasa dan jika anda berada di Aceh Utara mie aceh yang tidak kalah enaknya adalah berada di sp. Mulieng, Syamtalira aron yaitu Wak Jack Seafood di jamin anda ketagihan.
