Red cabbage vs Green cabbage

Is there a difference between red cabbage and green cabbage? I will be listing the health benefits of both and comparing the two. However, you can't go wrong with cabbage, whether it is red or green. Both are good for you and are low in calories and high in minerals and vitamins.

  •   When it comes to Vitamin A-  Both red and green cabbage contain a good amount of Vitamin A. However, red cabbage contains 10 times the amount of Vitamin A when compared to green cabbage.
  • When it comes to Vitamin C- A cup of chopped green cabbage contains 37 milligrams, where as with red cabbage, it contains 51 milligrams using the same amount
  • When it comes to Vitamin K- Both red and green cabbage contain a good source of Vitamin K, but in this case, green cabbage contains more of Vitamin K than red cabbage. A cup of chopped red cabbage contains 28%, where as with green cabbage, it contains 57%.
  • When it comes to iron- Both green and red cabbage contain a great amount of iron. However, when compared, red cabbage contains double the amount of iron than green cabbage.

I enjoy both red and green cabbage. Both are excellent when it comes to your health. I suggest that you should eat both. They also both taste great. Depending on what meal you are preparing, you can decide whether it would be more enjoyable with red cabbage or green cabbage. I personally enjoy red cabbage in a salad and green cabbage cooked as a side dish with fish or baked potatoes.
