Food plays a part of our everyday lives! Plus, as a Steemian, it is my job to share the pictures with all of you featuring some of the best food in Beijing. So today, I am featuring one of the most delicious yet economical-to-your-pocket restaurants in China. In other words, it is a budget-friendly restaurant with customers lining up. Sometimes you need to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour just to get a table. No Kidding Here!

外婆家(wai po jia) Granny's House

Location: ZhongGuanCun 中关村食宝街

This restaurant sells mainly Jiangnan cuisines, which has more southern China influence. Granny's house is a franchise outlet in Beijing so there are occasions where certain outlets don't have the food you want. Bigger outlets have more options.
So while you are waiting in line, you read the menu first to decide which food you want to order.

Appetizer: Green Peas and Wrap Chicken

I like how they plate the items, looks neat but not as appetizing as I thought.

Taste : ⭐️⭐️
I am not a fan of their appetizer, perhaps it is because I do not like to eat those beans due to the reason that they tend to give me a gassy tummy. Call me a picky eater but I really prefer a hot soup as an appetizer instead.

Value for money: ⭐️⭐️⭐️around 3 USD

Should you order?: If you like Beans and cold meat, go ahead. I won't

Sweet and Sour Pork
Presentation: ️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love how the food shines under the lights. The sauce covers the pork evenly. On one suggestion though, if they were to use a smaller plate it would look as if the dish has larger portions.

Taste : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love it. I got no complaints for this dish and if Reena.K gives a 👍, I can assure that it taste really good.

Value for money: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️48元, about 8USD.

Should you order?: YES, don't forget to eat this with rice.

Braised Chicken in herbs
Presentation: ️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It is a whole chicken in there. Beautiful. Notice that brown skin.

Taste : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The chicken is well marinated. The meat is soft and the Skin has a light crisp to it. Double 👍👍 . A MUST TRY!!!!

Value for money: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️45元, about 7usd. YES, a WHOLE CHICKEN FOR 7 DOLLARS. WORTH IT! 😍

Should you order?: ABSOLUTELY YES!

Garlic Shrimp with Vermicelli

Presentation: ️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's a heaven for shrimp lovers, and don't worry about that layer of oi;. The Chinese likes using sesame oil to give a nice fragrance to their cooking.

Taste : ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This dish is a bit too salty for my liking but most of my friends love it. Plus, I choose to avoid eating shrimp, due to personal reasons. So if you love seafood go ahead.

Value for money: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️38元, about 6usd.
Should you order?: YUP! Be sure to eat rice with it.

Overall experience

A 4.5 Star⭐️
Eating here isn't too expensive and it is affordable for students or for those with a budget. The restaurant keep their prices reasonably low to attract customers, which is also the reason why you need to take a number and line up for at least half an hour if you want to sit in for dinner.

Do they offer Food Delivery?

This question popped in my head as I was writing this post, and I did a bit of research. Well, their franchise restaurant is not listed in two of the largest food delivery apps. I believe they kept it that way to control the number of orders. However, you can order from a food delivery app called Dianping.

Delivery starts after 4pm, and the minimum order is 30元(5usd)
