Momo
Love for Momo's
Momos are emerging as one of the most favorite street food items in India. To those who aren’t aware (which will be rare). Momos are dumplings native to Tibet and Nepal. Traditionally, momo is prepared with minced meat filling, but now, one can find numerous variations. Ground vegetable, paneer, tofu and cheese are some of the fillings used in momos. There are 2 types of momos – steamed and fried, which are served with a delicious dip! If you enjoy momos and are thinking about going to the nearest momo joint to hog on some, you should certainly visit these places in India, especially to taste the mouth-wateringly yummy momos!
Momo is a type of steamed dumpling with some form of filling. Momo has become a traditional delicacy in Nepal, Tibet and among Nepalese/Tibetan communities in Bhutan, as well as people of Sikkim state and Darjeeling district of India.
Finely chopped cabbage, carrot, soy granules, cottage cheese (paneer), potato, flat bean (Lilva Kachori) or chayote (iskush) are used as fillings in India and Nepal.
The dough is rolled into small circular flat pieces. The filling is then enclosed in the circular dough cover either in a round pocket or in a half-moon or crescent shape.
The dumplings may also be pan-fried or deep-fried after being steamed.
