Lentil soup
Good morning diners today I bring you a simple recipe from Venezuela, lentil soup. I also plan to make a series of soups of grains since in many countries these recipes are not common, now let's start knowing our ingredient of today, the lentil:
Lens culinaris, the lentil (International Feed No. 5-02-506) is an annual herbaceous plant of the family Fabaceae, with stems of 30 to 40 cm, flimsy, branchy and striated, oblong leaves, lanceolate stipules, little tendrils, flowers white with purple veins, on an axillary peduncle, and fruit in small pod, with two or three disc-shaped brown seeds about half a centimeter in diameter. The species is native to the Near East
• ½ Kg of lentils
•1 bay leaf
• 1 Carrot
• ½ Onion
• 1 Stalk of chives
• 1 garlic stalk porro
• 2 Cloves of garlic
• 1 Branch of celerí
• 2 medium potatoes
• 1 zucchini
• Cilantro to taste
• 2 sweet red pepper preferably green and red
• Salt, Oregano and Cumin
Soak the lentils in water the night before the day we are going to cook them, doing this they will grow.
Drain the lentils, rinse them, then place them in a pot of water and place a bay leaf.
While they soften, we finely cut the carrot, onion, green onion, garlic, garlic, celeri and chili. Once chopped we take them to a frying pan, add oil, oregano, cumin, salt and we will make a sofrito.
We wash well the zucchini and the potatoes, we cut the tips to the zucchini and then in small cubes, the potatoes also chopped them like the zucchini.
When the lentils are soft add the sofrito, when the boil burst after 10 minutes add the potatoes and the zucchini, rectify the salt. Let the fire for 15 minutes, add the finely chopped cilantro and cover the pot, let stand for the lentils to take the taste of coriander.
Duration: not counting lentils in water the day before, 1 hour.
Servings: 6 servings.
You can have smoked pork chop or chorizo if you want to put meat on it and with spicy it is extremely tasty.
An excellent soup for both lunches and morning breakfast for its great.

Sofrito:
Set of ingredients, especially tomato, onion and garlic, which are fried over low heat until they are lightly browned and are the base and main seasoning of a stew.
