Pizza...

Known worldwide as a most delicious food, who doesn't love a good slice or 15?

Such a customizable dish, there are options for vegetarians and vegans, omnivores, meat lovers, regional specific fare like "Greek" or "Hawaiian" pizzas, breakfast pizza, dessert pizza...

There's gluten free crust, low carb cauliflower crust, nourishing traditions savvy sourdough, and the classic: A little chewy, soft and tender, slightly fluffy around the edges with yeasty air pockets white flour "italian" crust.

And, there are specialty pizzas like "Christmas Dinner" topped with turkey, stuffing, cranberry suce and gravy, and Double Bacon Cheeseburger with onion rings.

I know, I've had that last one, and it is delicious.
In fact, I've never met a pizza I didn't like.

You can put whatever you feel like or have kicking around in the fridge on a pizza, and it will be delicious.

I'm going to share with you my version of pizza today.

Maybe you'll see what a joy it is to make and try making it yourself!

First, the dough...

I've made all sorts of doughs. Whole wheat, spelt, cauliflower, sourdough levened, coconut flour, soaked... And white. It always comes back to all purpose white flour and bread yeast for me. The texture and taste with this combo beats any other in my opinion. So I'm sticking with it!

Canadian Style Pizza

"The best" Pizza Dough

  • 4 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 and 1/4ish cups of water
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp active dry yeast

What I do is add everything into my bread machine, set it to "dough", and keep an eye on it to see if it needs a little more water. You want a smooth dough, not crumbly, not sticky.
If you're making it by hand, mix all the ingredients together and knead it to a smooth dough, then let it rise an hour in a bowl covered with a hand towel.

While the dough is rising, prepare the toppings!

Today I'm topping my masterpiece with sweet yellow peppers, jalapenos, onion, olives, marble cheese, feta cheese, pepperoni, and spicy kolbassa sausage.

After the dough has risen, punch it down and split it in two. Roll out half on a floured surface. I have yet to master stretching the dough by hand while spinning it in the air. I'm okay with that.

Put the dough on your pan, and add a layer of really good sauce. Sauce makes all the difference. I made this sauce from fresh local tomatoes and herbs from my garden this past summer. This is the last jar, so this coming summer I need to make three times as much!

Then, I like to add the veggies.

Meats come next...

And the cheeses!

Pop into the oven at 400° and set the timer for 15 minutes.

And Enjoy!

Do you make pizza at home? What are you're favorite toppings? I'd love to hear from you below :)

I do make pizza at home, but I don’t usually make the crust. It usually comes out chewy when I make it. I do make decent flat bread, and it works well as crust on small pizzas, and everyone can choose their own toppings that way. I’d like to get a good recipe for pizza sauce. I make my own sauce, but it’s just okay, it’s not delicious. I want delicious sauce, because it does make all the difference!!

I will share my recipe later this year, It was my first try and it's so good! The roma tomatoes were soooo sweet, I think that really contributed to the awesomeness! Plus the fresh basil, oregano, parsley, sage and thyme straight from the garden... Mmm!

Oh, good! I love recipes that all the ingredients come from the garden!

Waa they look yummy Amy! I don't cook and I don't know how to bake so I enjoy people doing such things and admire them for it. Yum yum, did you eat 15 slices as well? lol

Not quite 15, haha. Had to save some to have for breakfast!!

It's getting COLD in here! Let's turn up the STEEMIT love & HEAT! Your post has been chosen to receive some January (Into February) THAWing! Thats ice on the window inside my house this morning... Brrr!
Thanks again <3

OMG you describe the Italian crust soooo well. I'm craving it now. The dough looks perfect, like a fat belly. Bella gnocca! :P

My fav toppings are spicy sausages (any variety), peppers, onion, strong cheeses. God, I'm hungry now.

Cheers

Those sound like some perfect toppings <3<3

YUMMY!! I should have come over for a slice haha! <3 <3 I bet it tasted awesome!!

Oh yes, it was good! Next time the power goes out (your birthday again perhaps?) You guys can come over and we'll do it up on the bbq! That's what I did when the boys were here last year, haha. But really you guys can come over for a pizza night sooner, that would be fun <3<3<3

Wow, it's really delicious without tasting it. I want to eat it. Your soup for the pizza types is great. It's a universally-loved food that everyone loves. My wife often forbids me in the kitchen. But I do not know the recipe. It's different from what you cook. I'll give it to you next time and try to cook like you. Thank You dear @amymya

I hope you make some tasty pizza for your wife and that she from then on welcomes you into the kitchen all the time :)
Thanks for stoping by :)
