Good morning fellow steempunks. After a few days of unpacking and finding a cooker and washing machine, we are finally installed and enjoying our new home with 2 hectares of different types of fruit trees. Discovering something new and edible every day. We spotted wild chili, sweet potato, banana, coconut, jackfruit, soursop, custard apple, mango, milk fruit, and papaya until now... ohh and something that looks like a kiwi but isn't. Don't know the English or even Dutch word for it.

The neighbors are going to be happy... free food for all ;) Aso the property came with so many chickens, rooster, chicks, and broody geese. For now, we have 5 geese but they are sitting on at least 20 eggs.... more goose to come... I love them... and I bet they will love us to for being vegan ;)

I will make a post about the new land later with some pics of the fruit and the beautiful jungle behind us.

Here's the view from the kitchen window.

But let's talk smoothie now. It's been far too long!

Though most fruit in the garden is still ripening, we already have some fresh coconuts straight from our trees. The other fruits come from the local market. Grown by farmers at their small home farm without the use of chemicals. Small, ugly fruits but oh so delicious. Ohh and the soursop (we also have a tree... yippee) came from my landlady's garden.

Carrot Coconut Morning Glory

Ingredients

1 carrot
1 mango
1/2 soursop
1 banana
2 cups Chinese cabbage
Water of one green coconut
2 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil

Directions

  1. Blend Chinese cabbage and coconut water until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients and blend again. If the smoothie is too thick, add more liquid base. If you have a high-speed blender, throw everything in at once.
  2. Optional: top with toppings/superfoods of your choice. I used goji berries this time.

Happy blending!!!!

sounds good ... we just had a smoothie.. yummy with what was on hand .. orange juice, almonds, plain yogurt ..not vegans .. anyway cheers!

Thanks for stopping by! No worries, I am not 100 percent vegan either ;) I make an exception for wild Cambodian honey, eggs from the chickens of our previous neighbor (got some chickens on our new land too so I bet I'll have some eggs too to enjoy on occasion) and sometimes I make regular yogurt instead of coconut... everybody is on its own path.. nothing wrong with that. Have a lovely day!

Never heard of soursop before. What does it taste like?

Do you know custard apple? It tastes the same but with fewer seeds ;) My fav tropical fruit for sure.

Custard apple? Is that a particular type?

I guess I’m not very educated in these fruits. 😊

Sugar apple is another name for it. Here's a pic:

and this one is soursop:

If you never had any of these, they are so yum! Always welcome here to have a taste. Got both trees in the garden ;)

It's pretty interesting that I have come across people sharing a smoothie recipe with soursoup. I assume it's because it's a pretty rare fruit or it's either pretty expensive to afford. I was wondering is there any substitutes for soursoup like lime or lemon?

In Cambodia, soursop and custard apple are a common fruit. We even have some trees in the garden. I would substitute it with kiwifruit. Thanks for stopping by ;)

Can't wait for your photos of new flat, happy animals and nature around your new place! You have beautiful view from your kitchen, oh! I wanna drink your smoothie and look for these views! Great :)

Was a tropical rainy day yesterday... want to get a few more pics of the garden and the fruit trees we have ;) Love it here. So quiet and surrounded by nature!

I'm dreaming about living nearby jungle, about place where is quite, lots of trees, nature, animals and with places for meditations, it would be kind of like a dream come true. So I can't wait for your photos haha! :)

Post coming soon ;) just want to get a few pics with the sun... has been raining quite a lot the past few days! And you are always welcome here to come and enjoy the quiet and jungle ;) Beach is a 5 min walk away too ;)

Amazing photos, and sounds delicious. I am currently in Baja, Mexico and we have had the opportunity to get fresh soursop/guanabana. The guanabana tea is also lovely. When I see them again I will have to try this recipe. They are a wonderful fruit and have so many amazing benefits! What type of mangos do you use? The golden mangos are one of my favorites, sadly they are not in season right now.

Hmm not sure.. the ones that grow here... they kinda have the same shape as the ones you are referring to... not the round ones that you find in the supermarkets in the West. Are you living in Mexico? It is one to0visit list we have a friend living there too ;) Have a lovely day and enjoy the soursops ;)

Never had soursop (had to google it!). How would you describe its flavour? I have seen it in the store on occasion but never investigated.

I love its taste. Do you know the flavor of custard apple? Same taste. If not kiwi comes close. Thanks for stopping by!

Refreshing day with the spectacular view. Hello hello to your new place. :-))

It sure is peaceful over here! Thanks for your lovely comment!
