Coconutty Green Smoothie Bowl with Soursop, Mango, and Banana

Also known as graviola, guyabano, and guanabana, soursop is by far my most favorite tropical fruit. If you have never tried it before it tastes a lot like a custard apple but with fewer seeds. It has a soft, creamy structure. That's why we often call it our vegan yogurt!

Next to being incredibly delicious it has superfruit-healing properties and is a high-antioxidant food due to the high levels of vitamin C, B vitamins, calcium, phosphorous and it even has some iron too. It is great for your eyes, can treat infections and even shows promise as a potential cancer-fighting food.

Some sources claim that certain compounds in the soursop plant are a miraculous natural cancer cell killer, 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy. Also, Soursop fruit extract is claimed to slow the spread of cancer or make traditional cancer therapies work better.

Ingredients (serves 2)

The smoothie base

2 small banana, chunked and frozen
1 ripe mango (save some for topping)
1 cup spinach
¼ of a soursop (if not available us kiwi instead)
Leaves of 2 mint sprigs
1 cup coconut milk

Toppings

Coconut flakes
Dried goji berries
Mango cubes
Dried mulberries
Pumpkin seeds or pepitas

Instructions

  1. Blend all smoothie ingredients until smooth. Use tamper if needed to make sure everything gets blended.
  2. Pour into a bowl and top with your favorite ingredients.

We love our tropical paradise and all the fresh fruits ;)

:-) it sure was yum hehe

Is a smoothie bowl the same consistency of a smoothie or is it thicker? I could definitely see one advantage of a smoothie bowl is more area to add more awesome toppings. Dried goji and mulberries are some of my faves.

Same here! So much better than the typical raisin. Smoothie bowls use less liquid and are thicker, you can even freeze all ingredients (except smoothie liquid) and blend for soft serve ice cream consistency. So yum! Thanks, @jaymorebeet for your comment!

That sweet and sour taste of the soursop is just excellent! This is one of the fruits our grandparents were eating a lot here in Mauritius, but these days it is very rare to see it in the market stalls!
How i missed that fruit!
Thanks for the share @amy-goodrich!

Though we don't see it in abundance on the markets here either, people still have many trees in their garden and sell the fruit on street corners or the market! It so good!

Ah ok, this is the same situation in Mauritius! Very little quantity but absolutely delicious!
