A home recipe for KULFI : A traditional pakistani ice cream that does not require an ice cream maker
My adolescence was punctuated by many "home parties". One week leading up to these events was utter madness. Several trips to the grocery store that all the children got dragged and countless hours listening to menu decisions, crockery choices, pots, pans, borrowing pots etc
Very boring for children.
I dreaded these as they meant a houseful of people we referred to as "aunties and uncles". None of which were blood relatives. They were just folk with the same ethnic heritage who lived in neighboring parts.
The day of the party was a day filled with much excitement and lots of stress. The kitchen was always in a flurry and we were always in the way. All those aromas wafting out of the kitchen kept us strolling back in feeling hungry.
Long story short, we always looked forward to dessert. One of my favorite desserts was Kulfi. This was a traditional pakistani ice cream made of all things milk.
I used to teach traditional cooking when I first moved to Dubai. My aim was to make traditional foods super easy and convenient to make.
Below is a no fail home recipe I wrote for one of my classes. All of my work is original. The picture however is not mine.
I will upload some original pictures later.
This will not disappoint:)
