Umamido, Worst Ramen in Sofia!
I heard about this place from social media and it got me curious, so when I happen to be in the neighbourhood naturally I was determined to try this warm hearted Japanese style soup. To my surprise I did not get anything near that.
When I entered the shop during lunch hour, it was totally empty... that is the biggest tell tell about a food place if its good or not. If its empty during lunch hour, its probably not that good. But I was determined to try it!
I ordered Tonkatsu Ramen, it says in the menu that the broth boils for 12 hours with the meat and the miso, but instead I got some boiled water with a tea spoon of miso paste mixed just before serving i guess.. it was so bland.
The meat was dry and it was not boiled on this day, it probably just sits there in the fridge, and they just slice 3 pieces and throw it in the boiled water miso mix. Still not a touch of salt.
The noodles? I mean it was them block noodles you buy for 50c in the supermarket and you pour some boiling water and enjoy that MSG like there is no tomorrow!
The Egg!?
Ok I can understand why the egg was cold, its because they boil them for 6 minutes, then put the eggs in the fridge. 6 minutes boiled egg has runny yolk and its perfect for Ramen, so I've heard.
Why only one half egg tho? WTF do they do with the other half? Just cut it and eat the rest? Because you cant get that half egg back to the fridge, why not just serve it? That was the only good eatable thing on this plate - the egg.
You know sometimes you eat in a place and you just feel that the person that cooked that food did not care about his food, at all.
Umamido is apparently one of those places.
If there is a rating i would it give it 0/10
