Hello Steemers, today I come to show you this post about the only premium beer in Venezuela. We'll talk a little about its history, its composition, and types.

Solera.

History:

The Solera beer was introduced to the Venezuelan market for the first time on June 6, 1955 as a Special Edition of Cerveceria Polar for that year it came in 330ml returnable bottles, with very little presence at the national level. It was a dark beer and possessed 7% (° G.L.).

In the 80s, it changed its image and the presentation of the 295ml can was added to the market after several investigations. It was reformulated into a product achieving a perfect balance between body, bitterness, foam and alcoholic degrees, which is reduced to 6 % (GL)

In December 1991, Solera was re-launched with an alcoholic content of 6º only for that month. With the intention of diversifying your business portfolio. Since then many palates were captivated. Cervecería Polar takes the decision to continue its production and introduce it definitively to the market, positioning itself as one of the first Venezuelan beers to compete against imported beers.

Ingredients of a beer.

Water:

It has to be pure, slightly mineralized, among the minerals in the water that most interest brewers are calcium, sulfates and chlorides. The identity and quality of the beer are marked by the characteristics of the water.

Yeast:

Saccharomyces cerevisiae This microscopic element is responsible for transforming, during fermentation, the sugars of the must in alcohol.

Malted barley:

It provides the beer with the essential nutrients that give it foam and color. It is obtained by the germination of barley grains, which are moistened until they reach their optimum point; then the process is slowed down by reducing its moisture until they dry. The degree of subsequent toasting of the malt will influence the final color of the beer.

Hop:

This flower of Asian origin is the soul of beer. The lupulina, is the ingredient that will contribute to the beer its bitter taste, the own aromas and sensation of freshness. It is a plant that began to be used in its development in the ninth century with the function of sanitize and preserve beer.

Brewing process.

First of all, the beer must is obtained, an infusion of the ground malt in water, to which the hops are added. The sugars coming from the cereal present in this must are those that will be transformed, by the effect of the yeast, into alcohol and carbon dioxide. After this process, the beer is usually cooled to 0ºC and filtered before being packaged to obtain a golden brown.
