If you would compare the human brain to a computer, you can say that "the brain is the central processing unit of the entire human body". Without the brain the human body would not be able to function. It is very important for us to take good care of our entire body especially our brains in order for us to have a disease free life as we get older. When a person crosses the age of twenty, the brain starts to age and shrink. When the human brain starts to shrink, the affected individual starts to experience Memory Loss, Difficulty Sleeping, the need to uses glasses due to poor sight,  Poor Hearing, Depression, Cardiovascular diseases and Distress.

When it comes to sanity, you would notice that in most Nursing homes, there are a lot of people who suffer from various illnesses like Dementia, Alzheimer, Parkinson and other types of illnesses that are rooted to the brain. As old age hits, the human body system deteriorates. The body becomes weaker, more prune to various illnesses and the body energy level drops making reaction slower than it used to be. Walking become slower, speech is slower basically everything is slower.

The food that we take-in affects the brain by improving its conditions or worsening the state of the brain.  There are food that we could eat often to make sure that we maintain a healthy brain. There are other factors that affect the brain but the food that we intakes a big role because they are a source of nutrient to the brain. The brain needs micro nutrients such as antioxidants, vitamin, minerals and phytonutrients to remain healthy. Just like other parts of the body need certain nutrients to be healthy, so does the brain. 


Coconut oil

Coconut oil when consumed is very beneficial to the function of the body especially the brain, it also helps improve memory. Coconut oil generates its own insulin which helps the brain to function, and according to research coconut oil is a natural treatment for Alzheimer's disease since the patient cannot produce their own insulin. 

There are other benefits of taking coconut oil:

  • Reduces the risk of cancer and also aids in the treatment of patients who suffer from cancer
  • It is helpful in the prevention of Heart disease including blood pressure by converting the bad cholesterol into good ones
  • It improves memory and the function of the brain
  • Boosts the immune system(natural antibiotic)

There are many more benefits of Coconut oil, it can also be used on the skin. To enjoy coconut oil, you can add drops of it into your coffee or tea and it gives it a very nice flavor. So you are able to enjoy a steamy cup of coffee while maintaining a healthy brain condition.


Turmeric

Many of us prepare delicious foods like chicken curry using turmeric but are not yet aware of its health benefits. Turmeric has a lot of benefits when taken in the right proportion compared to cooking. When cooking with turmeric the food may not contain the required amount that the body needs in order for the substance to do its work, depending on the reason why we are taking it. There are people who take it in order to prevent certain diseases and others take it for treatment of diseases that already exist.
Curcumin is the major active ingredient in turmeric thats improves one's wellbeing, acts as a strong anti-oxidant that helps to cleanse the body system and boost the immune system, is also an anti-inflammatory substance.Most importantly,research from the U.S Lab Studies shows that curcumin is very beneficial to patients suffering from dementia and traumatic brain injury, it is also taken as a means of preventing the Alzheimer's disease.

How To Enjoy  Drinking Turmeric


TURMERIC MILK TEA.

2 teaspoons of turmeric powder

1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

2 tablespoons of honey

1 cup of coconut milk 

1 teaspoon of grated ginger

Let all the ingredients boil for about 5 minutes and drink before bedtime.


LEMON GINGER TURMERIC BLEND

6 lemons

5 tablespoons of grated ginger

5 tablespoons of  turmeric powder

5 tablespoons of honey

4 cups of water

Squeeze the lemon and put the juice in a blender, with all the other ingredients and blend. when smooth, put the content in a pitcher and put some ice. serve when its cool. Best drank in the morning for body cleansing and detoxification.



TURMERIC SMOOTHIE

Ingredients

 6 teaspoons of turmeric powder

1 Mango

1 large fresh carrot

1 orange

1 tablespoon of honey

1 cup of coconut juice

Blend all the ingredients together with some ice. This recipe can make two cups of turmeric smoothie.


Vitamin B

It is highly recommended to take vitamin B or eat food that is rich in vitamin B12 because they target the nervous systems which leads directly to the brain, that is why it is usually recommended to ease people who suffer from stress, brain fog, memory loss, fatigue etc.  

When the body lacks vitamin B12, the brain of patient is affected and they could experience signs like confusion, weakness, shortness of breathe,numbness, nervousness, hallucination, memory loss and schizophrenia. If the body lacks the B12 vitamin for a long time it would eventually lead to permanent brain damage causing diseases like; Alzheimer's disease, Dementia, Atrophy etc.

Vitamin B12 can be founds in foods like liver, clams

Blueberries are often referred to as the brainberries or the superfoods and this is because of the effect that is has on the brain. This fruit is very powerful, it enhances the brain by boosting concentration and memory. this fruit can help in becoming more intelligent.

Blueberry smoothies are very delicious and a delightful way to enjoy your blueberries. To make a delicious blueberry smoothie you will need:

1 cup fresh blueberries

1/2 banana

8oz plain yogurt

3/4 cup fresh milk

1 1/2 tablespoon of sugar

Omega 3 fatty acid

Eating food that is rich in omega 3 fatty acid such as salmon or tuna, is very healthy and helpful to the brain.  Omega 3 enhances the brain' health and improves the memory. It is also used to convert bad cholesterol into good ones that will make the body healthier and prevent cardiovascular diseases.

Salmon is abundantly rich in Omega 3 fatty acid. everyone should eat salmon.

Other foods that helps the brain stay healthy are:

  • Avocado
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Almonds
  • walnuts
  • Broccoli
  • Dark chocolates


To maintain a healthy brain we would also need to

  • Engage in frequent physical exercises and this trigger the brain cells reducing the body stress level, improving mood and blood flow to the brain. Generally exercising help in the prevention of Alzheimer disease.
  • Avoid bad habit like  smoking to prevent the risk of having dementia. 
  • Avoid bad habit like smoking and drinking
  • Take part in mental stimulation exercises like crossword puzzles etc
  • Have good diet
  • Get social by spending more time with friends and loved one.
