Luferlang: Fearsome Critter

in #folklore6 years ago

The Luferlang is one of the more lethal fearsome critters, and certainly one of the more outrageous. The Luferlang is said to resemble a horse, with a few key differences. Instead of a tail at its rear end, the Luferlang's tail is affixed to the middle of its spine. The centered tail is extremely bushy, and can pivot in any direction. Also along the length of its spine, the Luferlang has a vivid blue stripe. Most strangely, the legs of the beast are triple jointed, which allow the Luferlang to run quickly in any direction.

There is no cure for a Luferlang bite. To be bitten by a Luferlang is a sure death sentence. You don't want to go looking for this lethal creature, even if it is said to only take one victim a year. The typical season for Luferlang biting begins in early July. Superstitious folk avoid wearing the color green at this time, as it tends to provoke the Luferlang into aggression. It is also said that donning an orange handkerchief offers protection from a vicious Luferlang.

Another method of protection against a Luferlang is a mirror. If you find yourself being charged by an angry Luferlang, you are supposed to (somehow) produce a large mirror and hold it up next to yourself. The reflection tends to confuse the Luferlang, to the point that he wanders away.

That's quite the bizarre and interesting creature. I'll be sure to carry a large mirror with me at all times and not wear green in July lol :)

I love easily confused vicious beasts! But who eve thought to pull out a large mirror as a survival tactic?
