Beast of Bladenboro: North American Folklore

in #folklore6 years ago

North Carolina is nothing if not rich in history, both factual and mythological. Between the Santer, the Gallinipper, and the Wampus cat, this Southern American state also has its fair share of cryptids in its history.

Big Cat, Panther, Looking, Eye, Zoo, Cage, Caged

Another one of these monsters that roam the North Carolina wilderness is the Beast of Bladenboro. In the winter of 1953-1954, the monster wreaked havoc on rural North Carolina, crushing and decapitating many beloved dogs. Many of the victims of this mysterious monster had the blood drained from their bodies.

Those who had allegedly spotted the The Beast of Bladenboro claim that it had many features similar to a cat, but a larger frame than your typical kitty. They also stated the Beast had many bear like characteristics, large fangs, weighing about 150 pounds.

Whatever was killing dogs, livestock, and attacking people was never truly caught. A bobcat was eventually found in the search for the Beast of Bladenboro, and while the attacks slowed down, they never really stopped. Areas of Bolivia, Greensboro, NC, and Florida have all reported sightings of a bear-like cat, viciously attacking people and pets.
