Folklore Giant, Tree Demon or (Kapre in Filipino)

This is an experience of a friend.

When he was young, they have a nanny who like to listen the radio. And when the night comes, she would listen to her favorite radio program entitled "Night of Terror". And when she listen to this, what she like is that all the lights on her room turned off. There were occasions when he and his brother listen along with her.

The show features different creatures like dwarf, vampire, tree demon or Kapre and many others. And he also remembered there's this sound effects that is also so scary, especially the voices of vampire. It's so ugly! It was truly frightening! But the odd things was they kept on listening to them.

Sometimes he told his parents that he is listening "night of terror". And they tell him not to listen to that program. What they say is that it isn't true those horror creatures, these and that. They also explained that these stories were only created to frighten children who are disobedient to their parents, and who will not go to bed early.

Of course, he took their word for it. They are his parents and they always meant well for him. Growing up, he still believed what his parents told him. Even when he became a Christian believer, he still didn't believed that it's true, those creatures like dwarf and tree demon or kapre.

That was when he got involved in the ministry of spiritual warfare and deliverance in 1994. He studied about Filipino spirit world by means of attending those spiritual warfare conferences and seminars. And he read some books about this, and he also learn that Jesus is above over all other spirits. It seems like he is being equipped by God to open him up to the ministry of helping others who were bondage to these creatures.

After he is being equipped by the Lord, He allowed him to have encounters with some of these strange creatures that Rodney (a writer) lists in Filipino Spirit World. One of this is kapre or tree demon.

His first eye opener.

One afternoon, while he was having a snack in a local cafeteria, one of the owner of garment factory called him. She told him that one of her factory workers suddenly started exhibiting strange behavior and strength. Nobody in the factory could restrain her and they asked him for help.

When he arrived at the garment factory, he saw one woman who is being restrained by eight people --- two men where holding each arms and legs. When released, she will go to wild and make troubles. The story of woman's co-worker, before all this wild things happened is, she talks to somebody outside the window that they didn't see. And then she went unconscious.

The witnesses said that she laid down on the garment cutting table in slow motion, and then her skirt was slowly being lifted up by something or someone invisible. Kiss marks started appearing on her, as if someone was indeed making love on her. Surely, this was something new to him! Very strange indeed!
In woman's case, looks like it's not her whom he can speak, but the spirit that possessed her. He asked the spirit, "who are you?" The spirit inside the woman replied, using a man's voice, "Kapre or tree demon!"

He was surprised ---- no ---- shocked! It is true then! There's really a Kapre or tree demon! He thought in himself. But he cannot just take it all in as truth. He had to probe further. So he asked, "how did you get in there?" The Kapre or tree demon answered, "I was in the tree outside of her window.

I used to watched her since before then. I loved her, that's why I exploited her." This confirmed a truth to him which is actually passed down to Filipino children through folklore, that these kapre's or tree demon actually lived on trees. Not only that, but that these kapre's are also very lustful. He rebuked the Kapre or tree demon and said, "In Jesus' name, I want you to get out from her."

He used different weapon to torture and force the Kapre out of the woman. Very visibly, the spirit would react in pain. The woman would foam at the mouth, spit brown mucus out, and shriek as if in so much pain. He just really know that it is not the woman whom he is facing because of different voice and her strength. In reality, it was the Kapre that was inside of her that he was after and that he was tormenting.

It takes sometime before the Kapre go out from the woman, maybe it's four or five hours. Often the demon really likes to extend the battle. But the good news is, either it's long or short is the battle it's always Jesus' who wins. There is no battles that Jesus' never overcome. He always win!

So, after much torment and pain to the demonic spirit, it eventually came out. And there is even an added bonus to this story. Because of what of all the worker saw the ugliness of demon and the power of Jesus, all of them believed in Jesus and received Him as their Lord and Savior. What the devil meant for evil, God turned into something good!
