What Is Your Focus?

in #focus5 years ago

It’s not an easy question. Especially not easy in 2019 where we lack the ability to focus on anything for more than mere seconds before a distraction takes us away. However, it’s an important question because the truth is whatever you focus on, you’ll get more of.

What is your focus? How do you spend your time thinking? The answer to those questions can dramatically effect your mindset on a daily basis.

If you are spending your time focusing on the negative , you’ll find yourself attracting negative things in your life. The same rings true for when we focus on the positive, we find ourselves attracting positive things in life.

Ignoring problems is never the answer but focusing on them without proactively attempting to change the circumstance is also a big waste of time.

I tell my daughter when she’s having tantrums and focusing on something that she feels is negative that she has 10 minutes of pouting time and then it’s time to fix the issue. It’s normal to feel disappointed or sad when things don’t go your way. This allows her to take the time to validate those feelings without wasting too much time focusing on it too long. When those 10 minutes are up, it’s time to move on to the positive. It may seem a little silly at first but I actually apply it to my own daily way of thinking and it works.

It takes a lot of discipline to NOT focus on the negative and it’s not easy. There is negative all around us, everyday, all day. It’s also important not to ignore it. It’s a matter of shifting your focus towards solutions rather than the problem. What would it take to resolve the problem?

That in itself is positive thinking!
