It was the first thing we planted, but it's not being very fruitful this year. So far about half a dozen with another half dozen or so ripening on the plants. I'll try an heirloom seed next year. Maybe it'll be better.
mine are all eaten by the birds - but we live in an urban environment with many dead yards or lawns - not much food for wildlife.
Have you tried permaculture? Bet the birds would love you for it and help you out a lot ;)
Plus, if yours is the only house with green stuff (and fruitful green stuff at that!), your property value will be awesome!
