Green Home
I grew up in a house that looked like a botanical garden.
My mother had a plant at every corner, on every shelf, at every doorstep, on the stairs, and in winter even in my bedroom.
She made gardening an art and every flower seemed to have a special care program, and I always thought I could never do it. At least not as good as my mom did it.
Strangely enough, this is probably the reason I like plants too.
I took over taking care of a lot of them when my mom left the house for more than a week. I did not like it at first. Just another chore more!
Eventually, when I took care of the plants myself for a longer period of time and noticed how they grow and bloom, I felt more connected, inspired and happy. I often said to myself: 'The flowers did not die on my watch. I can actually grow something!'
However, my mom did not always trust in my gardening skills. So I did my best to prove her wrong. I am still not sure if she trusts me with them even after all these years. But I understand her. It takes a bit of time and dedication. And a little bit of luck.
I have lots and lots of photos of our plants because I had to update my mom on them when she was away. Mostly (probably) so she believed me that they were still alive :)
I can not imagine a house without flowers. They make a house feel like a home and also help bring up the air quality.
If you do not have any I would totally recommend it. Try starting with one, a simple one. You might be surprised.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone :)
Beautiful photography. Be success friend @k4r1nn
My mom was NOT a gardener by any means. I learned most of my limited gardening from my maternal grandmother. But, like most kids, I rarely paid much attention to it. Now I wish I had.
I discovered gardening as a passion a few years back and have really advanced my love for it. This year I will have two greenhouses outside, I have grand expansion plans for my herb and flower gardens and I even have two grow tents indoors (one in my kitchen and the other in my laundry/mud room)- It's an ice storm here today outside and I can proudly declare I have tomatoes on the vine; not ripening yet but hopefully within the next few weeks.
Some find the love of gardening sooner and some later. It actually does not matter. You seem to be doing much better in that area than me. I used to have a little garden for veggies and I know extremely delicate and hard to grow tomatoes are. Congrats on that!!
Happy Sunday to you too! I used to have a lot of plants. My cat eats them no matter what I do and then of course pukes so I had to get rid of them. The only plant I do have that he doesn't touch is my Christmas cactus and aloe plant.
Your little cactus arrangement is cute in the red bowl.
Thanks, @countrygirl. I could not help but laugh when I read your comment. It is funny :D Sorry! The cat we used to have when we were kids would sometimes grab any cactus from my moms collection, pluck it out of the pot and carry it around like a prize. However, other plants were safe.
That's even funnier! lol. Crazy cats.
Lovely sunday too @K4r1nn, its my picture
I love roses. They smell so good.
I totally agree with you. A house without a flower is just a building. You have a very nice collection of flowers! Good work!
Oh my, we share a passion here. You should have seen my kitchen nook when I had 3 plants that touched the ceiling.
Great job! My mom would love it also :)
Beautiful photography. Ill definitly come back here again. Witch you luck
