 La flor orquídea es considerada con mayor número de especies en el reino vegetal, es conocida como cattleya mossiae en Venezuela y fue nombrada como la flor nacional el 23 de mayo de 1951, esta hermosa y autentica flor es utilizada en eventos importantes en este país e incluso en exposiciones de flores exóticas, además muchas mujeres cuando se casan en el arreglo floral para el diseño del ramo suelen utilizar una o dos orquídeas. En épocas antiguas eran consideradas como flores exóticas y representaba la belleza y el amor. Existen diversas especies de orquídeas y con colores alucinantes.

 Los tipos de orquídeas se dividen en: Epífitas, terrestres y las trepadoras, la cattleya mossiae se encuentra dentro de la especie de las epífitas. Todas las orquídeas deben ubicarse al aire libre e iluminado no directamente con los rayos del sol, debe regarse moderadamente día por medio. Aquí les dejo una orquídea de la especie epífita la cual cultive, esta plata florece solo 4 veces al año.
