Flower Series #24 - Cottongrass
Cottongrass
The pillow of the poor
In the old days, cottongrass was used to fill the pillows and bedclothes. The cottongrass was called the "poor man's pillow". If you twist cottongrass, it could also be used as candle awning.
Plant of luck
Back in the days they used to burn cottongrass to make it rain. And if you planted it at your farm, it would keep ghosts and spirits away. Cottongrass was also used to relieve the toothache pain.
Now a days i think most people have forgotten about this plant and the only thing it symbolizes is that you should walk around it, because its always wet and swampy where these plants grow.
