All we have to do is look for beauty, and she is there all around us at any given moment

Oh Dear Jakarta!

Sadness

On

Election Day

First,

Human kind needs to eat shit

TO UNDERSTAND

How great a sweet piece of mango tastes

or

How a simple flower smells so good!

The imperfection and little scar on the right side?

I am really shocked what went down for those elections of the new Gouverneur in Jakarta.

It's like we woke up in another world.

Thats how I feel but I am thankful for my good years in the other one

I don't know anything about Indonesia and politics. The article suggest the winner is not all that bad, the somewhat scary thing is the mix of government with religion. That you see in many places of the world happening and I think it is the logical answer to all the conservative right politicians in the western / Christian world.

This article was written in an indonesian newspaper and if you followed the horrible campaign you would understand what I mean.
Religion should not combined with politics. It's too much to reply here so I might create an article because it's an interesting topic to explore more.

I fully agree with you that religion shall be separated from politics. But here we have an issue in western 'so called' democratic world as well. We have for a long time political parties with Christian background. CDU in Germany, CDA in The Netherlands and so on. For a long time we didn't had business open on Sunday, because of the bible stating the 7th day being a day of rest. In the Netherlands we even have a smaller political party (SGP) that is so conservative Christian religious, they didn't allow women as a party member. Only last year they lifted this rule, but still. In Turkey, Ataturk realised the fact that religion and government didn't belong together, so he created a system in which the army was there to protect his secular state he created early 19s. We in the west condemned the fact that the army in Turkey was that powerful, the EU even made it even a showstopper for Turkey to join the EU; and see now what has happened! Turkey knows quite a few military coups, but these were always to protect the secular state (as far as I know as least). In the 90s Turkey even had a woman as prime minister, and now we have a guy who wants to rule the Arabic world, maybe even the world and he played his cards so well, he may be able to reach it.
