The English governor of Assam Province (1932-37) named after Michael Kinn was named after him.
This bridge made of iron was constructed in 1936. About 56 lakh taka of the time spent in construction of 1150 feet length and 18 feet width bridge.
During the war of liberation (in 1971) Pakistani occupation force blown a part of the bridge on the north side of the bridge with the dynamite. After independence, repairs with wood and bailey parts are made suitable for light movement. The bridge was rebuilt with concrete in 1977...
Around the bridge, there is another historic establishment of Sylhet Ali Amjad's clock tower..
