Nilakurinji: I have heard his name a lot. Very common, light blue small flowers. There is no smell. Yet why is he so appreciated!
There is only one reason - he is very rare. Twelve years later he blossomed. At that time, the Nilgiris of the Western Ghats literally turned blue with his arrival.
Suddenly he was spotted in a newspaper, during his football season from July to October 2016. The mind jumped. It is not clear who will be where after 12 years. So this opportunity cannot be missed. Convincing the boss, cutting the plane ticket, booking the hotel - I did everything in a hurry.
Chennai is the city of Kochi in Kerala. From there you have to rent a bus or car to Munnar, a green hill town. But, in two days, the Turkish dance of the mind was about to stop. TV, news papers flood Kerala headlines everywhere. All roads to Munnar are closed. The situation is similar at Kochi Airport.

All understanding fails. Where do I put the burden of bad! Yet the farmer lives in hope. Even though the hotel booking was canceled, the flight ticket was not booked in that hope. In the end, on the advice of a friend, it was decided to leave Chennai for Kodaikanal. Nilakurinji blooms there too. But very little.

Let it be less. Still, I can see. It is better to go to Munnar from there. Otherwise I will go somewhere else.
That's how I went out on the first weekend of September. Noon flight from Kolkata. I reached Chennai by 4.30 pm. From there there is a nice and comfortable night service sleeper bus. It takes tens of hours to cover 526 km.

By 6 o'clock in the morning I had reached the town of Kodaikanal, covered with fog, freshly awakened, and covered with a mild winter blanket. Finding a fairly desirable hotel, leaving the luggage, we went out fresh to see the city. The rare flowers were finally seen in the afternoon at the Kodaikanal Botanical Garden. It does not grow naturally on the mountain, but it is visible to the naked eye.

He spent the night in Kodaikanale. The next day an uncertain journey towards Munnar. Roads to Munnar were closed during the floods. Even if we opened one or two, we had to go a little detour. Batalagundu is a 2 hour bus ride from Kodaikanal. From there I reached the police station by bus about another hour and a half later. From here it is about three and a half hours to Munnar by renting a jeep.

As soon as I entered Munnar, my mind became better. Just green tea gardens across the city. And there is cultivation of medicinal plants. Mountains of different sizes all around, some blue, some green. Jungle, small fountain, beautiful Munnar decorated with lake.

I woke up the next morning with an excitement. Today I will go to Eravikulam National Park to see the reason for coming to Munnar. At this time the mountains are full of blue flowers. Nilgiri fights with the blue sky.

It is against the will of nature to come on this trip almost by force. September, but the rains have not yet subsided. When we arrived at Eraviculum National Park at an altitude of 2000 meters, the clouds came down over our heads. The distant mountains are faint, mysterious. And the saddest thing is that almost all the flowers have fallen in the heavy rain.

The mood got worse. Some Nilakurinji spread from team to team. The rest of the hill is covered with only gray flowerless trees. I comforted my mind. It is a matter of good fortune to see this city after the catastrophic floods.

In the meanwhile, several 'Nilgiri Thor' suddenly came down from the side hill. A species of wild goat, somewhat like a deer. These animals are native to the Nilgiris.

The clouds that had already gathered over his head became heavy and could no longer hold themselves. Namal jingled. I came back to Munnar soaking wet. Twelve years again! What else can I see?
