The Caballero or Peacock Flower
If you are from the Philippines, then you should have seen this flower. This is known as Caballero but this flower is also called poinciana, peacock flower or flamboyant-de-jardin and has a scientific name of Caesalpinia pulcherrima. A species of flowering plant in the pea family, this flower is a native to the tropics and subtropics of the Americas.
This flower which comes in many colors; red, yellow and orange can grow up to 3 meters tall. Being from a pea family, you may get intrigued with the seeds of this flower but beware; the seeds are poisonous. This flower is a great ornamental plant that is sometimes grown along pathways.
