Majestic Tulips


Its long springs with cold nights make Holland the perfect place to grow tulips. The land of the polders is constantly drained, creating ideal conditions for tulip bulbs, which adore well-drained but moist soil.From mid-March to mid-May, a part of Holland becomes a gigantic sea of flowers. It begins in March with the season of the crocos. Then come the daffodils and the hyacinths. Finally, the tulips show their pretty colors more or less from tulips transform much of the Netherlands into a multi-colored patchwork quilt. If you come to Holland in April to see the tulips bloom, you will find fields full of beautiful colors everywhere.

Tulips time

The tulips extends from the end of March to the middle of May, but the tulip usually reaches its full splendor in mid-April. During spring more than 7 million flower bulbs bloom in the floral park of Keukenhof, in Lisse. This is one of the perfect places to see all kinds of tulips. Even so, during this time of year you only have to take the train or go by bicycle to see the vast fields full of blooming tulips.

Where are the tulip fields?

Locatie van de meeste tulpenvelden in Nederland is in de Noordoostpolderpolder, in de provincie Flevoland. De bollenvelden langs de kust van Den Haag en Leiden naar Alkmaar, in het noorden, zijn ook een goede plek om van deze prachtige bloemen te genieten. Het bloemenpark van Keukenhof, de grootste bloemententoonstelling ter wereld, staat bekend om zijn vele tulpen en ligt op 15 minuten rijden van Leiden en 30 minuten van Amsterdam. De grootste bloemenveiling ter wereld, FloraHolland in Aalsmeer, ligt ook op 30 minuten rijden van Amsterdam.
