December poo....

This flowers are called December poo and its Botanical name is Barleria Cristata . Actually this flower got this name December poo, because they blossom every year in the month of December. In South India this is grown up in villages and in garden. This funnel shaped flower is used as ornamental plant. South Indian people strung this flowers in garland and also ladies wear it in their hair. This flower is found in various colors like white, pink, yellow purple and in Lavender. It's leaves roots and seeds are used for some medicinal purposes. Roots and leaves are used to reduce swellings. Some say that it's seeds are used as antidote for snakes bite and many more usage of this plant. But like other plants these December poo plant gets lesser attention. Still remains as decorative plants and also used as a fencing to the garden due to its thorny stem.
