I just learned that the first free software and Uruk project event in Iraq took place a few days ago. You can find out more about this event here.

Ali Abdulghani, the masterhead behind the Uruk project and the organizer of this event, is a well known figure in the Iraqi free software community. You can learn more about him in this article: Meet Ali Abdulghani, a Blind Programmer Working in the field of Open Source.

I especially like the quote from Joel A. Barker he chose to share with the world: "Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world".

Great guy!

Even if you don't read the article, @hagbardceline recommended, here you are editors. The most important part of the interview concerning only you and me. Even if it's no problem to satisfy handicapped people, because the protocol is available, you are mostly too lazy to do it. Just do it! Take care. Read the words of Ali Abdulghani :

Most programmers do not care for the screen reader when they write programs, there are things you must do and things to avoid when you write your GUI program, there are guidelines, but programmers do not care about it when developing GTK+ applications.

Ribbit on.
Even NO Steemit editor takes care for the disabled. Have a look, how the code for pictures runs. No real Alt–Tag. Steemit just repeats the name of the picture and you should fill in YOUR description of the picture instead. Not one Editor takes care.
How I know? Because I don't do it either. And I know about the function of the ALT-Tag. Double failed.

From now on I stop my urgly behavior against the handicapped!

Promised by Afrog, who is going on to write a Help! about.
Ribbit off.

Wow, thank you very much for your response. The problem with proprietary software is often that no resources are allocated to dealing with those kinds of issues as the target group is too small. With Steemit, we would have the chance to deal with it properly once and for all.

However, as you wrote, this is unfortunately not being taken care of at the moment.

Thanks for the Wow @hagbardceline. Give it to the handicapped people too. In your further articles. It is the same as a donation to supply their behalfs.

But wouldn't it be better to simply provide the possibility to use the "alt" tag or even force users to use this tag? This way, every article would be perfectly readable for blind people.
