Florence and the Nuclear Machine

Hurricane Florence left a huge mess in the areas that it hit. Major flooding and damages spread across the areas affected and the current death toll is at 17 and still rising. It may rise a lot more if the Brunswick Nuclear Plant isn't put under control. Located about 30 miles south of Wilmington, the Nuclear Plant has encountered an "unusual event", the lowest level of nuclear emergency, as required by Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The twin-reactor nuclear plant, located 4 miles inland, is stable and poses no threat to public safety, Ledford said. The facility has off-site electricity from the power grid to cool the nuclear reactors and radioactive nuclear waste at the site.
Flood water has not entered the facility and has not exposed critical equipment to risk.

With all roads to the plant cut off by flooding during a hot shutdown, this could spell disaster if things get out of hand, but as of right now, it doesn't seem like things could turn south. Unless the Lord lends a helping hand to the situation for more chastisements. There was already a great mercy given that out of the nine facilities in Florence's path, only Brunswick was forced to close, but all it takes is one if the worst happens. Could we see an event similar to Fukushima? At this point, it looks unlikely, but it's best to wait and see. Count your blessings if you went through this storm, you've been granted time to repent.
