As a puzzled John Bridgewater, through the screen of his computer-helmet, witnessed his drone formations plummet towards the earth, John remembered his dad's last moments, eight long years ago.

I found that hard to read, I do not think my re-write is any easier though. maybe @doughtaker will have a better Idea, any way here was mine:

A puzzled John Bridgewater watched through his helmets heads up display, as his drone formation plummeted to earth, dredging up memories of his dad's last moments, eight long years ago.

I really did not have any other troubles, and did not see any thing else.
