Bloody hell I do not think I can remember a single thing from 73 except maybe some random things like it may or may not have been the year some women over the road gave me a homemade ice Popsicle, strange memory? not if you are sat on a stool unable to walk for 2 years. :-)
It was a mixed year. Why unable to walk for two years, medical issues, that would suck at any age not being able to walk, but really bite as a young kid. We used to make homemade popsicles out of kool-aid. Had blue plastic moulds with drip type lids, of course they always melted and we lost a couple of lids, so used wood popsicle sticks poked through cardboard cereal box cutouts to keep them upright while they froze. Worked better than the plastic lid stick top, didn't matter if you lost the stick.
I had Perthes (Osteochondrosis) as a child, 3 to 6 1/2 where my hipbone disappeared over night, I fell down on the way to school and said my legs broke mom lol, then had years in plaster and riding cycles with 1 leg, it gave me good balance for my future motorbike riding all the same.
That truly would suck, for those early years, but as kids we are so flexible not only in body but mind, most of the times. I never broke a bone as a kid, did bash my shin and chin open a couple of times bike riding, well really bike flying, hard to break your chin open just riding, but flying over the handlebars because of a sudden stop, not to hard to do.
I never took much notice of it according to my mother, so it mattered not, you just get around on hands as best you can.
Always someone else worse off bro.
