BIBLE Study.jpg

I pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal all that we are going to do in this studies.

1 Cor 2: 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

If you want to know God to His full extent then I am inviting you to do this studies with me. We are studying other biblical descriptions of God whereby God reveals His character to us. Some would see this also as more of God's attributes.

GOD IS RIGHTEOUS.

MEANING
God is always right and always acts in perfect accord with His holy character.

KEY VERSES

Psalm 11:7 For the Lord is righteous,
He loves righteousness;
His countenance beholds the upright.[a]

Psalm 119:42 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

Psalm 145:17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works.

1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption

2 Corinthians 5:21 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

EXPLANATION

  • Righteousness is being in the "right standing with God," who is in Himself inherently right.

  • Righteousness is "right (holy) living" according to God's ways
    Romans 6:19-22 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.
    20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

The "righteous" man lives by his faith in God.

Habakkuk 2:4 “Behold the proud,
His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith.

  • Man has no righteousness apart from God.

Romans 3:10-12 As it is written:
“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”[b]

  • Righteousness comes through Jesus Christ alone.

Romans 3:21-22 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all[h] who believe. For there is no difference;

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

ASSIGNMENT
On what basis do most people judge righteousness?
Please put your answer in the comments, in order for me tip participants and give 0.200 SBD to the best answer please upvote the post. God bless!

PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENT
I choose the answers of @timochenko and @elplaga. I will share the 0.200 sbd between them and send a tip to the other participants who were @mistakili, @bigssam, @warudo, @ayoyemi and @cryptofig. I appreciate your participation a lot, through each others answers we can even learn more about the subject.

The question was: Where would men be if God were not patient?

timochenko (32) · 2 days ago
There is no study of "our God" which more impressively presents to our view the Infinity of His nature than the study of His perfections; and among those perfections there is not one which, perhaps, more strikingly illustrates that Infinity than 'His patience'.
Now if God were not patience where would men be?
Lets take a look at what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah.Genesis 18 were God destroyed the entire city because of their iniquities.If God were not patience He would have destroyed the whole world i.e (Men would be no where to be found)
because we human beings are not standard and competence to fit his worth.
Blessed be thou Lord for His Patience!

GOD patience kept the people old testament from his wrath. Men old would be consumed but his patience preserved them. But we of the new testament the Grace of Jesus Christ has covered us.

I liked it that @elplaga is referring to our new dispensation under the Grace of Jesus Christ. God is now patient on behalf of the sinners still in the world that needs to accept Jesus' redeeming sacrifice on the cross.

Next study: We move on to the personality of God and how He reveals His personality in the Bible to us through His different names in the Bible. This is another beautiful study!

I did this Bible School course more than 20 years ago over a period of 2 years, and it is now my privilege to share it with you.

“Thou shalt not judge.” That’s actually not one of the 10 commandments Moses brought down from Sinai.
The problem that all of us face in making righteous judgments is that we cannot see into the other person's heart; we do not really know their intentions and attitudes. We have a hard enough time understanding ourselves, let alone someone else!

Thank you @addempsea for commenting, but the post is not about judgement although all that you say are true about judging. It is about the righteousness of God and how do we become righteous, "in the right standing with God." When using the word judge in the assignment it means how do we see righteousness?

I do think most people judge righteousness based on one or combination of the following, if

  1. That person keeps his/her word.
  2. That person has no designs on the time or property of others,.
  3. That person is truthful and bears no false witness.
  4. That person can walk in the shoes of another.

Thank you for clearing this up for me @addempsea. So yes people judge righteousness based on works, what a person does.

Human can be pretenders, you can't be accurate judging a person. We judge by what we see in people but God judges us based on our heart.
As human we can't read mind, therefore we can't say who is good or bad.
A great danger comes when we begin to imagine that man's acceptance guarantees our Creator's approval because human judgment is not justified.

Thank you for participating and commenting @captain-tom. Hope to see you again!

Most people judge righteousness based on their own worldview. They view what's good and bad based on an earthly perspective. Most people view sins with different 'weights', but God hates all sins equally. So, whether you're lying or murdering, you're still sinning. Obviously, from our earthly perspective, murder is far worse than lying but a sin is a sin is a sin. God views them all as sins against Him, thus He hates all sins equally. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for participating @cryptofig, very good perspective and answer! Blessings!

Most people judge righteousness based on one's habits and the actions they do. Most of us do think that if an action is a good one in his/her perspective then the action is righteous or in the other case it wouldn't be righteous . But to me it is not us who should just what is righteous or not , it's always THE ALMIGHTY(JESUS CHRIST) who can judge what is righteousness . Thanks for sharing the wonderful words @hope777

That was a good presentation at the curation night.

Thank you @oniraphaeleu, your post for me was the best and what other better message can there be. Lots of Christians still don't understand this message. It totally agrees with my post too. Christians still think you have to try... you must just accept and through the work of the Holy Spirit in your life you will bear fruit that is suitable for a Christian. This comes out of a heartfelt gratitude for what Jesus did for us on the cross. Blessings brother!

People judge righteousness in the sense that with mere altitude, character and the way of living of such individual...

Thank you for participating @kingvko. Blessings!

Thank you ma.
Most people judge righteousness based on works which has to do with the norms of an environment. But the word has shown us that righteousness is a gift from God to us as Jesus took our unrighteousness and gave us his righteousness.

Dear @elplaga, you have a very simple way to answer, but totally correct and in line with the doctrine and the word. I love your answers, thank you for participating.

I learnt alot from this post.
Thank you @hope777

Thank you @gidionline, keep on following the series to get a full and complete knowledge of God and the Trinity.
